November 2010

Time moves too fast!  As we prepare for the festivities of Halloween, the aroma of the feasts of Thanksgiving have already filled the air.  November is at hand and I'll be dipped in cranberry sauce if you can't hear the jingles of Christmas on every television station.  We all need to slow down our lives and take the time to appreciate the important things in life: family, friends and the privilege of living in the greatest country on the planet.  Let us all celebrate the onset of the Holiday Season and be grateful we all have the freedom and the right to do so!  Have a safe and joyous Thanksgiving Day!

Course Update

We will be closed for overseeding starting Monday, November 1st through Friday, November 5th.  During this five day span, we will overseed the greens, tee boxes and some select fairways.  It is important that we control the watering and traffic on the areas that we overseed which is why we will be closed that week.  We will be open the weekend of November 6th.  Remember, we all are responsible for the special care the greens will need throughout this process.  We must repair all ball marks and try to fill all divots with sand in the fairways and tee boxes. We have done an outstanding job throughout the year and we need to continue our efforts throughout this winter season.  The fairways will soon go dormant, so now more than ever, the 90* Rule becomes the standard, not the exception.  Let's go golf!

Falls City Youth League

The Falls City Youth League is hosting their golf tournament on Saturday, November 6th at noon.  The format is an A-B-C-D Scramble with teams being drawn right before tee off!  You can sign up individually and your team will be drawn by the "A" player with the format being a four person scramble.  Please call the club house for more information and to sign up and play.  Entry fee includes food, drinks, golf and cash prizes!!

Ladies Golf Luncheon

Ladies mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 11th!  The tee time will be at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to be served at noon.  Sign up and come out and enjoy 9 holes of golf with a special luncheon to follow.  If you can't make the golf, you can still RSVP for the luncheon.  Cost for this event is $5 lunch/plus applicable fees for golf.  Contact the pro shop or call Stephanie Jackson to RSVP for one or both events.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour Sunday, November 7th.

 

Saturday Golf League

Every Saturday at 1:00 pm

If you are interested in playing in an organized group of golfers, simply call in before noon of that day.  The entry fee into the organized group is $10 plus any applicable golfing fees.  There will be optional games if you wish to enter.  Tee times commence at 1:00 pm with registration and sign up at noon.  This event will take place every Saturday afternoon unless there is a tournament scheduled.  Please call the pro shop for more details and information.  All golfers and all skill levels are welcome.  You must be 19 years of age or older to participate.      
 
Club Championships

What a busy and fun filled weekend it was for all the participants in the 2010 Club Championships. We would like to thank all of our members who supported the event and to "Golden Chick" and "McBee's BBQ" for providing two wonderful meals for all the golfers.  Congratulations go out to Wayne Foster, the new Men's Club Champion for 2010 along with Joye Peterson, the new Women's Club Champion.  The winner in the Men's First Flight went to John Moore.  In the Men's Second Flight, after a tough battle, the winning trophy went to Gary Moy.  In the Tightly contested Men's Third Flight, Bobby House emerged as champion.  In the Men's Fourth Flight, after two days of intense competition, Earl Peterson survived and is the 2010 Fourth Flight Champion.  Again, a special thank you to all the members who made this year's Club Championship a huge success.  See y'all next year.

 Glow Ball Tourney

Saturday, November 20th will be the date for the "Great Gobbler Glow Ball Tournament".  Birds of a feather flock together and endure the fowl weather.  Let's all come together for an evening of a 9 hole glow ball tournament and a sit down turkey dinner.  The dinner will begin at 6:00 pm with the golf to follow.  Dress warm and bring down your best friend and flashlight.  The cost for the event will be $30 a person and will cover everything.  PLEASE sign up early, there is a limit on players in this nine hole event.  Thanks.
