The icy brisk winds of December push the wave of excitement and anticipation that define the holidays. Christmas is every child’s favorite time of year and since there is a bit of a kid in all of us, well, it’s hard not to get caught up in the joy of the season. Let us all remember that the true meaning of Christmas is in the act of giving and sometimes it is not only the gift but the actual time spent with friends and family. So enjoy all of those close to you and reach out and make somebody else’s burden lighter this year. Did you know the word “Holidays” is just a shorter version of holy days? So, here’s to all our members and friends wishing you a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!

Pleasanton Country Club Course Update

The over seeded greens are looking great and we have mowed them down to the smoothest surface possible! Remember, ball marks on the greens must be fixed immediately if we are going to maintain quality putting surfaces through the spring. Winter over seed does not regenerate like Bermuda grass, so look for your ball mark and repair yours and at least one more! Let’s not forget to use sand to fix all divots on the fairways and par 3 tee boxes. We will be cleaning up the teeing area in front of #13 tee box in the near future.

Red Ball Tournament

Mark your calendars for the Annual “Red Ball” Christmas Scramble on Sunday, December 18^th @ 12:30 p.m.. There will be plenty of fun, food, golf, and excitement to kick-off your holiday celebration. Sign-up individually, we will make the teams and format. Cost for this tournament will be $30 plus applicable golfing fees. Pleasanton Country Club and River Bend Golf Club members and guests are welcome and there will be cash prizes for 1^st , 2^nd, and 3^rd places, as well as long drive and closest to the pin. Sign-up today!

Ladies Golf Luncheon

All Lady Linksters are invited to come out to P.C.C. for a holly, jolly good time with a 9-hole golfing event followed with a wonderful sit-down luncheon. Golf will start at 10:00 a.m. with the meal to follow at noon. Cost for this event is $10 plus applicable golfing fees. Sign up early!

After School Tennis Program

The after school tennis program is in full swing. We are pleased and privileged to have Phillip Wilson, a USTA tennis pro, offering instruction on the fundamentals of tennis. Phillip is in Pleasanton every Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. providing lessons for kids at a cost of $12 for members and $15 for non-members and guests. Tennis News

Couples Fall Tennis at Pleasanton Country Club was a smashing success! Ten couples battled it out every Tuesday night for ten straight weeks to see who would reign as the couple champion. Amid fierce competition, uncontrollable laughter, some blood, a lotta sweat, (no tears), some severe body rolls, nose dives and thrown racquets emerged our Couples Champions, Joel and Debbie McDaniel. Congratulations to Debbie and Joel and to both Tori House and Wesley Stapleton who were nipping at their heels in second place. All of these tennis stars will finish off the season with a special dinner on Thursday, December 15^th at 7:00 p.m. We look forward to and encourage everyone to get ready for the upcoming spring league!
